Group 1 - Creating An E-mail Account

Today you were taught how to create an e-mail account with Yahoo Mail. The style of teaching used was purely auditory where Mrs Tonner talked you through the process. How successful do you think the lesson was? Did you find it easy or difficult only relying on your hearing to follow instructions? What made you seek support - forgot instruction, required verification that you were doing the correct thing or frightened to make a mistake? Comment on why you were successful of unsuccessful today.

I think I was ok at listening to the instructions when we were making a yahoo email. I had to ask the teacher a couple times just to make sure I did it right. I hope that next time I can do it better and not ask as much as I did.I think it was because I was worried I would do it wrong but I managed it in the end. Linzi

I found the process of creating a new account fairly easy. With some tricky bits given the fact we were doing it by ear and not copying it down from the board. The tricky bit being the post code.

On Monday Mrs Tonner read out a list of tasks for us to do.I found this quite difficult because I didn't have anything to look back on to refresh my memory. When we did the visual I found it a lot eaiser because when I got lost I could look back to make sure I was doing the right thing.I have always found reading things eaiser than listening to people saying things I think this is because I forget things easily.

I thought the lesson waas quite easy because Mrs. Tonner only said one thing at a time. Some bits were quite hard because you got told to type more than one thing and sometimes I forgot. I enjoyed this lesson. The tasks had to be done quickly and carefully so you could move onto the next task

I thought thev lesson was not hard because i listened carefully to all the instructions and payed attention when you told us to fill in the form.I will definately listen carefully all the time to the instructions.

I thought i struggled a bit with the listening and remembering instructions.I didn't read the text properly and concentrate and stay focused. But most of it i was ok with but i did have to ask some questions.Hannah L7D

During the lesson,I foung it easy when Mrs Tonner explained everything in detail and went through it step by step.I found it hard remembering numbers and words to type into the computer because she didn't write them on the board so I had tp put my hand up and ask. Although I enjoyed this lesson,I prefer it when Mrs Tonner writes details and key points on the board white board. This helps me to remember and check back from time to time. Sophie L7

I think the lesson was confusing when you had to find and click on boxes and I had to start again a couple of times from clicking on the wrong thing. I understood most of the instructions but it took a longtime to complete the exercise.

I found getting my Yahoo e-mail account quite hard. I think I could have done it a bit more quickly if I had not asked for reassurance when giving over my name and password. I don't like giving my name over the internet. It was also quite tricky to write in the code because I wasn't quite sure which were capitals and which were not. I think it would have been easier to have the instructions on the board so we could follow.
I think I did know how to do it but I like to make sure I am doing the right thing especially on the internet.

I thought the tasks were o.k. to follow but maybe it might have been better if we were give instructions on a piece of paper to follow. That way if people were stuck they could just look back to the paper to help them instead of having to ask the teacher for help.Iqra

I think that that lesson was succesful because Mrs. Tonner was teaching us in a different way and was trying to get us to keep it in our heads and think about what she said. It was also succesful because we had to listen instead of just looking at something and getting someone else to do it for us. It really made all of us think and also because if Mrs. Tonner was writing something on the board and talking at the same time then she wouldn't be able to see who wasn't listening and who was listening where as if you just say it then the children have to learn to be ready and be prepared.

I think i was ok ,i don't think I passed but i didn't fail.I think and hope i will be better at the looking and listening part because I can see it and hear it .I hope I won't have to ask people next to me as much because i had to ask Sophie and Cameron alot but I had to ask the teacher as well.Next time I will try not to ask as much.I think I was worriedto much and I thought I couldn't do it .But in the end I managed to do it, so I will have to try extra hard this time .

I think that the lesson was easy to understand because Mrs.Tonner olny gave out one instuction at a time and nomally I have to ask Iqra for help .but I also think it was hard because I didn't know if what I was looking at was right .It would be a little bit easier if Mrs Tonner was wighting on the board. Mondays lesson was making a Yahoo email account. I thought that what we were being asked to do was quite easy.I think I only asked questions because I was unsure.I knew what to do but I was unsure and needed Mrs Tonner to confirm that i was right. It would be easier if I was shown what to do on a different computer but I understand how inconvenient that could be.anna L7A

I felt that the way Mrs. Tonner taught me how to get my Yahooe-mail acount was eisier than some other ways i have been taught. Partly because i had a visual aid on the computer and because i was being given instructions. Grace

I found our I.C.T.lesson on monday quite hard to follow. The fact that Mrs. Tonner only told us what to do was very confusing. Although I managed to keep up fairly well with the instructions,I would not recommend this style of teaching for futurre use. I think we would have followed it better if she had shown us what to do on the whiteboardor if we'd had it written down on a piece of paper for us to go back to. As human beings we can only remember a certain number of instructions before we forget what to do.

I thought today's lesson was hard because I never had the board to look at if I forgot something.
Mrs Tonner was only aloud to speak and I could not remember all the instructions so I began to panic.

I thought that the lesson was quite hard because Mrs. Tonner only talked and if you forgot something you couldn't refer back to it. All the tasks had to be done quickly because if you waited you forgot what had to be done. It was quite easy because the important imformation was emphasized and made clear.
