How Do You Learn? - Group 4

How do you think you learn? Do you learn by listening or reading? Do you need to write things down before you remember something? How do you remember the code for the school? Do you remember the numbers once you have heard them or do you need to write it down? Or do youi type it in and remember how it looks on the keyboard? Tell me how you think you learn best and give me examples of why you think this is the best way you learn.

I learn my Quota by looking at the words then covering them up one by one and writing them down. When I am learning the school code I have to write it in my diary then from there I can remember it, also if the code is in a sequence it helps because it is easy to just type in the sequence. If a teacher is talking I find it much easier if I can write things down while the teacher is talking. If I get instructions written down then I can always look back at what the teacher has written down, where if a teacher just gives instructions I normally just forget them after 3 instructions. I think I am a visual learner.

I think I learn by reading things because I am not very good at visualising things, like pictures, and also find it hard to pick up information by listening. Another reason I think I learn by reading is because after I have read books I always remember almost exactly what happened, especially if I enjoyed the book. I also find it easier to put my full concentration into reading whereas; sometimes when I am listening “it goes in one ear and out the other” as the saying goes. Another reason is that sometimes when a person is explaining something verbally, it is harder to know what they mean because different people explain thing and understand things different ways. This is not a problem with books as they are proof read and written to suit everyone.
Due to all these reasons I think that I am a reader.

I think I learn by following instructions that are written down. I learn my quota by writing all my words down and then the ones that I don’t know well I write down again and again so I learn them better. When someone tells me there mobile phone numbers I can’t remember them very well unless they have got quite a lot of the same digits in the number. I think I am a doer.

I think I learn

I think I learn by writing things down. In quota I write my words down every night and if I get them wrong I write them out 3 times. When I am only allowed to hear things once I sometimes write notes down so that I can remember them. If I am not sure if I good at something I try my best so I known next time.
I learn by doing. Alex

I learn by memory and can visualise most things relating to the subject that I am participating in. I can also remember things because I have gone over the thing several times before hand. For instance I often go over my Quota in my head before I write down the words the following morning. In ICT I can usually remember URL addresses and where to click. I am more of an auditory or a visual person than someone who prefers to write things down.

I think I learn by someone speaking if it is an exercise on the computer but if it is something to say out I just keep looking over it and saying it but if someone tells me the school code I just do it by my memory. I find it much easier when someone says the incrustations in a steady pace and you listen and write them down like Quota. But I really think that I am able to do my work better by looking.

I think I learn by looking at things I find it hard to remember more than 5 letters or numbers. I find it easier to have something in front of me. I also find it hard to take in all the information by listening in Science or instructions in other subjects, I think it would be easier to have something in front of me and to be listening to a teacher. In ICT I found it easier to do instructions when it was in front of me and I managed to do it quicker then. When my friends give me their mobile number or MSN address I find it hard to remember what it is, so I ask them to give it to me on paper which is much easier. I think I’m a person who likes to do write things down or have something in front of me.

I think I learn my quota by looking at it then checking over them but I can also learn by listening because if someone tells me the code to get into school I can remember it by memory. I sometimes find it easier by writing instructions or work depending on how long it is for instance if I had long complicated instructions like I have just been told in I.C.T, I would rather write them down. This makes me a visual learner. I would rather write my instructions down if they were homework.
I prefer to do my work by looking.

I think I learn instructions in my head. I can memorize things very easily especially long instructions. For quota I don’t write the words down what I do is that I look at all the words on the list and I get my mum or dad to say the words out and then I’ve got to try to spell the words. I think it’s much easier because there is no point writing the words down when it’s already there. When people tell me their mobile number sometimes I don’t get it but I usually keep saying it in my head until I’ve done it.
I think I’m a listener.

I think I learn by writing things down and can only remember about three things at a time. It is hard for me to remember things off the top of my head. I do prefer to listen as well. I can remember some things like the code to get in to the school. By Ailsa

I think I learn when I read things over and over again. I learn my Quota by reading them through. This makes me a visual learner. I like learning this way because when I read things it’s almost like it stores in my head I don’t like listening to information because it literally goes in one ear and out the other. When I revise I read it over and over and then get tested on it. When the teacher says things I like to write them down then read them over. When the teacher just says things I get lost after 3 or 4 instructions.By Andrew.

I think I can learn from visual because I can remember by looking at what is on the board. I can understand it more when I look at some things and not by getting told how to do things and not by writing. I really think I am used to looking for example I can remember the code for the school door and remember phone number. ByBlair

How I Learn

I learn my Quota words when I look at them so I think I am a visual learner. However, I learn my choir words by ear so I think it does depend on what I am learning. I often find it easier to learn if what I am learning is fun. If the way it is taught is fun (eg. Spelling-crossword) I find it more fun, and easy, to learn. Anna

I think that I can learn well by looking at problems and writing them down. When I get confused I write the question down or think it over in my mind. I am not too good with listening but I can try and get better at listening. I think I am better at learning when I am not looking at a gadget.

I think I learn by either wrating it down or just by reading it over and over again until I get it right. I can sometimes learn by just looking at the thing written or drawn down on paper or on an overhead projector. When after I have read it over and over again
I keep saying it again in my mind but I sometimes trip over my words in my head and forget. Usually after I have forgotten I try to remember it but mostly I never remember the funny thing is that I can remember things a long time ago but not two weeks ago. by Richard

I am not very good at remembering things, but if I have it written down I can go back to things that I can’t remember. It would be good if we got a chance to take notes or have a sheet for us to look back. Or if we got to a little time read about it and got it explained as well. I think I learn by hearing and seeing.

I think I learn well by listening carefully to the teacher .I need to read a lot of books and now the meaning of words and be more organised. It would be best if I remember where I put things. I have to do work or homework quicker. Adris
